CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

FEATURED PresentER:
Scott Kern, Senior Consultant

CPE Credit:  Up to 21.6

Program Level:  Advanced

Prerequisites/Advanced Preparation:  Attendees must bring a laptop preloaded with Microsoft® Excel® (version 2010 or later). This class is meant for more experienced, full-system users rather than single-module users. The optimal attendee will have access to most, if not all, modules within the system.

Advanced Report Writing Using the Microsoft Query Tool® and Microsoft Excel®

Join Scott Kern in this three-day session to learn how to access data with the MS query tool and how to create reports with the information you want to see using Microsoft Excel. We’ll start off with an explanation of the FOUNDATION database structure and review how and where to find data within tables, as well as how the tables relate to the FOUNDATION entry screens. The session will review simple lists and historical data, then continue on to more advanced reporting from the Job Costing, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll Modules.

Scott will also show you how to use advanced formulas in Excel, including vlookups, sumifs and countifs. Finally, you’ll learn about the advanced functionality of Excel, such as tables, pivot tables and slicers, and how to organize and optimize data reporting in Excel. This will include how to turn spreadsheets into automated reports using macros, enabling and editing macros to replace redundant tasks within a workbook, using a query from FOUNDATION to edit and manipulate data in Excel, and preparing and exporting the data in a format compatible with FOUNDATION's import functionality.

Who should attend

Advanced Report Writing Using the Microsoft Query Tool® and Microsoft Excel® is designed for advanced users of Foundation who utilize high-level reports or who play a key role in the reporting process, regardless of the system area, but the optimal attendee will have access to most modules in the system. Attendees should have at least an intermediate level of experience in Excel by class time.
